Presidential Seal

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

Dear Applicant:

One of the traditions of the Presidency that I have come to value the most is the White House Fellows. President Johnson started this program more than 30 years ago observing that "a society that cherishes freedom cannot be a spectator society." I believe wholeheartedly in those words.

I commend you for applying to be a White House Fellow. Nearly 500 Americans have served as White House Fellows, and virtually all of them have gone on to make significant contributions to their communities and our nation. Your own interest in joining the ranks of these dedicated public servants shows that you, too, understand the need for citizens to be actively involved in their government.

As America's most prestigious fellowship program for leadership development and public service, the White House Fellowships offer a unique opportunity to learn how government works. I wish you the best as you go forward with the Fellowship selection process, and I thank you for your desire to serve our nation.

  Sincerely,
