The United States Department of Labor is responsible for preparing
the American workforce for new and better jobs and to ensure the
adequacy of America's workplaces. The various agencies of the
DOL include the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, Employment
Standards Administration, and Benefits Review Board among others.
The Bureau of
Labor Statistics, is the fact-finding agency of the Federal
Government in Labor Economics and Statistics. The Bureau of Labor
Statistics has a Public
Access FTP server, which carries current and historical data for
surveys like Employment Cost Index, International Labor Statistics
etc.The Employment and Training
Administration, an agency of the DOL, aims to ensure accessibility
of proper resources for the US population and businesses in their job
lives.
The Women's Bureau, a
DOL agency is the single exclusive unit at the Federal Government
concerned with serving and promoting interests of working women.
