Today, President Clinton returns to Gaborone, Botswana from the Chobe National Game Park. In Gaborone, the President participates in a 45-minute roundtable discussion on African environmental issues with a group of six Africa experts specializing in wildlife management, biodiversity, desertification and energy. During the discussion, the President hears from these experts about the environmental issues of greatest concern to the African continent. The President underscores America's work to assist Africans in their efforts to develop and manage their resources in a sustainable fashion and to cope with environmental change. After the roundtable, the President delivers remarks on environmental issues relevant to the United States and Africa.
