The United State's relationship with Canada is one of the closest and broadest of all of our bilateral partnerships based on our shared values of democracy and free trade. Our two nations work very closely on a wide range of issues -- from bilateral trade to Bosnia, Haiti to the Middle East Peace Process, as well as efforts with our partners in the Asia-Pacific region to promote economic integration and sustained growth throughout the entire Pacific Basin.
Among the issues that President Clinton and Prime Minister Chretien are likely to discuss are the Pacific salmon dispute, climate change, landmines and U.S.-Canadian cooperation in Haiti.
U.S.-Canada trade has increased 40% since 1994, and now totals a billion dollars a day.
