Introduction by JANE WALES

I have the pleasure of introducing Daniel Goldin, who has been NASA Administrator since 1992 and is well known for his leadership of that agency. I think all of us know him as a dynamic and tireless leader. If you have never traveled with him, let me tell you he is tireless. I think that the average American knows him probably most recently for his redesign of the space station and his successful efforts to draw Russia into that space station partnership. This is only one example of international collaboration in space that is of interest to Dan Goldin and has been championed by him.

Before joining NASA, Dan was Vice President and General Manager of TRW's Space and Technology Group. Dan Goldin is a true friend of international science and technology, and I am proud to say a true friend of mine.
