OSTP's staff interact daily with high-level officials throughout the federal, state, local and foreign governments, industry and academia. OSTP's work requires the following: sharp analytical and quantitative skills; the ability to present ideas and analyses effectively orally and in writing; and the ability to interact constructively with others, often under high pressure and tight deadlines.
OSTP operates at a fast pace on diverse issues that are complex and politically sensitive. Analysts cover areas including the environment, national security, international affairs, social and behavioral sciences, physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, technology, space and aeronautics.
As needed, OSTP releases Job Vacancy Announcements. Each position is unique and applicants must respond to specific vacancy announcements to receive consideration. This is very important because it aids in determining eligibility and qualifications for a specific job. Current or former Federal employees should also include a copy of their most recent performance appraisal and their latest SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action).
