The President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) will meet in plenary session on Monday, February 22, 1999 in Washington, D.C. Key issues for discussion include the President's budget for FY 2000, and the anticipated report from the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC).
The Committee will meet with Tom Kahn, of the House Budget Committee; Elgie Holstein, Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget; Charles Larson of the Industrial Research Institute, Inc.; Al Teich of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; and Ken Kennedy of PITAC.
The PCAST was established by President Clinton in 1993, and includes distinguished individuals from industry, research institutions, and other non-governmental organizations. It is co-chaired by Neal Lane, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and John Young, former President and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company. The Committee serves as the highest level private sector group that advises the President on the Administration's science and technology budgets and policies.
