Goal To provide state-of-the-art patient-centered comprehensive care for eligible beneficiaries throughout the asymptomatic and symptomatic phases of HIV and AIDS.
Objectives
  1. Provide immediate evaluation and continuity of care for eligible beneficiaries who become HIV positive.
  2. Through contact tracing, identify persons at risk and provide consultation and evaluation.
  3. Refer to care as appropriate.
  4. Provide continuation of employment for service members until no longer physically fit for duty.
Action Steps
  1. Conduct periodic screening of active duty personnel.
  2. For HIV positive personnel, provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and care; Restrict service member assignment to continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico to assure continuity of medical care.
  3. Educate health care staff on best clinical practice for persons living with HIV.
