Descriptions
|
The National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory includes a Department of Energy (DOE) supported x-ray beam line extensively used by structural biologists studying virus structure, including the structure of HIV. In addition, through its National Laboratory system, DOE provides user facilities at other synchrotron light sources and at neutron beam facilities, which can be used by researchers to characterize the structural configuration of intact HIV, and HIV's biochemical components, often in complexes with inhibitors. These studies assist in the development of novel therapies, as well as advance our understanding of the pathogenesis and fundamental biology of HIV growth. |
