Biomass Energy Initiative. The biomass
energy initiative
involves converting agricultural crops to liquid and gaseous fuels. The
Departments of Energy and Agriculture are now working with private
companies to improve technologies and to demonstrate the potential for
such power projects to aid rural development. The initiative has
sponsored pilot projects in New York, Minnesota and Iowa.
