Earth Day 2000 Focusing on Global Warming

April 22nd is Earth Day 2000, the 30th anniversary of the first Earth Day celebration in 1970. This year, for the first time, Earth Day events and activities will focus on one specific issue: global warming. More than 500 million people worldwide are expected to take part in Earth Day events. In the U.S., hundreds of communities will hold celebrations, including a "flagship" EarthFair 2000 event on the Mall in Washington D.C. on April 22, 2000.

Senior Administration officials will be taking part in Earth Day events around the country throughout the month of April. Please check this site again soon for updates on Administration Earth Day 2000 plans and events.
