STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT GORE

I'd like to express my profound gratitude to Katie McGinty as she steps down as Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality.
For 10 years, since her very first days on my Senate staff, I've marveled at Katie's remarkable blend of passion and pragmatism, idealism and political acumen. She has steered this Administration through some extraordinarily complex and contentious issues, working hard to build consensus in our country and making sure always that the environment came out on top. President Clinton and I have benefited greatly from her insight, energy, and dedication.
Through her tireless efforts, Katie has helped preserve the richness and wonder of this earth so we can pass it on to future generations healthy and whole. I know this spirit will guide her always. And as she leaves us for new horizons, I wish her the best.
